World of Pacifist-Craft?

Peacebloom

My brother has oft lamented that he can not level a character in an MMO by doing a crafting profession alone. Perhaps he has an entrepreneurial spirit I don’t know about, I’m not sure. Either way, he might be interested in this story.

Recently a Tauren Druid on the Silvermoon server of World of Warcraft posted on Reddit that he leveled his toon up to 85 by only doing 11 points of damage. And that was an accident. He only accepted one quest, which auto-accepted, and otherwise only gathered herbs and mined ore.

Freckle Face on the Hearthcast podcast said she was going to try something similar, leveling by only doing quests that didn’t involve killing anything and by gathering the same materials. The only two professions that give experience points are Herbalism and Mining.

I find this idea to be quite intriguing. To me it sounds a bit like a Sims style player created challenge. If I wasn’t trying to fit in a mad dash to 85 for a baby priest before Mists of Pandaria starts, I’d roll an alt right this minute. Perhaps I shall try this after I do that just to see if I can. Unless MoP drops first in which case, all bets are off.

During an interview on Hearthcast, Nokill, the Tauren Druid, said he opted for druid because you can gather in travel form and he opted for female because they take up less screen room. A couple of things to keep in mind should you decide to try this out. So are you going to try this out? Maybe it will get more people in WoW, or spark their curiosity at least. If you do try it out, let me know!

  1. I’ve leveled in other games similarly (it was actually possible to do in Ultima Online if you could get someone else to gather some mats for you) I think this was also possible in Mabinogi and some other lesser known MMO’s. Archaeology and it’s huge exp worth also makes this more viable.
